CASH from Colchester United's new sponsorship deal with TEXO Scaffolding is being pumped directly into the club's playing budget, according to managing director Tim Waddington.

The League Two side have agreed a three-year partnership with the Witham company, whose name will appear on the front of home shirts from this season onwards.

The TEXO Scaffolding logo will appear on Colchester's new-look 2019/20 home shirt, again produced by Macron, and replaces JobServe.

And while being excellent news for the club in general, it will be particularly beneficial for the playing squad.

“The money will go straight into the first team," said Waddington.

“It will go into the first-team coffers and it’s a great three-year deal, which gives us security over that period.

“TEXO Scaffolding are a local business and they’re literally only a few minutes away from the training ground, so they’re right on our doorstep.

“We’ve done little bits and pieces with them in the past.

“The home shirt since we’ve been at the stadium has either been JobServe or Weston Homes for the entire duration and both companies have been superb.

“TEXO just adds another dimension – it’s a fresh logo and colour and it just adds another look to the shirt.

“A logo can either make or break a shirt and I think we made it with this one.

“Robert at TEXO has been absolutely superb and he supports an awful lot of sports clubs.

“You’ll see his brand around the place and I’ve seen it on the back of cricket shirts, on the front of football shirts, on rally cars and on boxers.

“The guys puts his money into sport and it’s exactly what clubs like us need."

Colchester begin their League Two campaign with a home match against Port Vale on Saturday.
