ENGLAND will attempt to secure a Women's World Cup semi-final spot tonight.

Phil Neville’s team take on Norway in a quarter-final clash in Le Havre, kick-off 8pm.

It is a repeat of their last-16 tie at the 2015 World Cup, which they won 2-1.

The Lionesses will be hoping to go all the way in the tournament, being played in France.

And they made the early steps in their quest for glory in Colchester, back in November 2017.

The majority of the England stars who are currently shining in France took to the field in front of a sell-out crowd at the JobServe Community Stadium when they played a Group 1 World Cup qualifier.

Those in attendance were treated to a goal glut as the hosts cruised to a comfortable 5-0 victory over Kazakhstan.

Nearly 10,000 turned out in force at Colchester United’s home venue to see the side claim a third successive victory in the qualifier, following a dominant performance in the second women’s international to be played at Colchester.

Nikita Parris scored twice and Melissa Lawley, Fran Kirby and Isobel Christiansen were also on target, as the Lionesses claimed a big win.
