Braintree Town manager Glen Driver has described his latest Iron signing as "a pacey winger with very good feet" after signing Rob Harvey following his release from Championship side Millwall.

The 19-year-old wide man is well-known on the local non-league football scene, having made a good reputation for himself with Isthmian League premier division club Brightlingsea Regent.

Having joined Brightlingsea at the age of 16 and going on to make 65 appearances for them, it was his form with the R's that brought Harvey to the attention of Millwall, where he signed a one-year contract last summer.

He has now been released by the Lions and leapt at the chance to come to Cressing Road and link up with Driver and assistant manager Tony Kinsella, who he came up against when the managerial duo were in charge of Leiston.

Harvey said: "I'm delighted to have signed for Braintree as I'm looking forward to playing football in the style that Glen and Tony will offer.

"I also think it will be a good opportunity to showcase my ability at a high level of football.

"I can't wait to get started."

Driver was equally pleased by his latest addition.

He added: "Rob has just left Millwall and is a pacey winger with very good feet.

"He has an eye for goal and provides many assists.

"Rob has a really hunger to push on in his career and I'm sure will work hard to reach his targets with us at Braintree."
