FRANKIE Kent has been named Colchester United's Player of the Year.

The young defender received the accolade at the club's End of Season awards dinner, held at the JobServe Community Stadium.

Kent has been impressive throughout this season and scored for Colchester in their 2-0 win over MK Dons, last weekend.

Ryan Jackson, the only player to have featured in every league game for the U's so far this season, landed the Players' Player of the Year prize, while winger Courtney Senior scooped the Young Player of the Year award.

Goal of the Season was won by forward Frank Nouble was his superb strike in the 3-0 win over Newport County, last month.

Consistent right-back Jackson was named the Colchester United Supporters Association (CUSA) overall Player of the Season, while midfielder Tom Lapslie was named the CUSA Away Player of the Season.

Community Player of the Year was youngster Louis Dunne.

U's Football Sales Team member Ben Conway was the General Manager’s Performer of the Season, chosen by Tim Waddington while Samantha Bates was named Employee of the Season.

It is a big week for Colchester head coach John McGreal and his players, as they prepare for their pivotal final weekend of the regular League Two season.

The U's head to newly-crowned champions Lincoln City on Saturday looking for victory to give themselves a chance of landing a coveted play-off spot.

Colchester, who lie two points off the top seven with a game remaining, need to win and hope other results go their way if they are to make it into the play-offs.
