Colchester United have allowed one of their forwards to leave the club on loan.

Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe has SSE Airtricity League side Derry City from the U's until June 30.

The 24-year-old had been training with Derry and has now tied up a six-month loan deal with the League of Ireland side, who begin their new season on February 15 against UCD.

Ogedi-Uzokwe returned to Colchester last month following his six-month loan spell with National League side Bromley, where he scored six goals in 25 appearances.

The former Maldon and Tiptree player featured for the U's under-23s in the Professional Development League and appeared as a late substitute in their 3-2 home defeat at the hands of Mansfield Town at the JobServe Community Stadium, last month.

But Ogedi-Uzokwe, who is out of contract at Colchester this summer, has found his opportunities hard to come by since arriving at the club on an 18-month deal from the Jammers in January, 2018.

And his chances of breaking into John McGreal's side became even more limited by the arrival of loan duo Abo Eisa and Callum Roberts, last week.
