THERE was a crunch match between two Gazette sides in the Thurlow Nunn League on Saturday afternoon.
Little Oakley and title-chasing Halstead Town met in a first division south contest at the Memorial Ground.
After a hard-fought contest it was the visiting Humbugs who emerged with maximum points after a 3-1 victory.
Chris Harris’ early goal handed them the initiative and Callum Vincent converted from the penalty spot to give the visitors a 2-0 cushion.
Jordan Pavett added the third before Brad James pulled one back late on for the Acorns.
Halstead stay second in the table, behind Hashtag United, who won 4-0 at Wivenhoe Town.
Matt Carmichael’s Oakley are ninth.
