Colchester United played out a 3-3 draw with Notts County, on Saturday afternoon.

Goals from Sammie Szmodics, Mikael Mandron and Harry Pell rescued the U's a point at the JobServe Community Stadium, after they had trailed 3-1 after just half an hour.

Colchester, who remain eighth in the League Two table, face Port Vale, next weekend.

Here, Colchester United reporter Jonathan Waldron rates the players following the 3-3 draw:

RENE GILMARTIN 6

U’s goalkeeper was unable to prevent Notts County’s three first-half goals.

RYAN JACKSON 6

Played his part in Mandron’s goal and was a useful attacking outlet in the second half.

TOM EASTMAN 6

Was powerless to prevent Magpies’ three goals but enjoyed a better second-half display.

LUKE PROSSER 6

Looked nervy in the first half as the U’s conceded three times but improved after the break.

KANE VINCENT-YOUNG 7

Produced another solid performance at left-back despite on-going toe injury and got forward well.

HARRY PELL 7

Kept his cool to convert the U’s penalty equaliser and grew in stature in the second half. Booked.

TOM LAPSLIE 6

Will have been disappointed with the manner of County’s third goal but never stopped battling for his side.

FRANK NOUBLE 6

Got little change out of the Notts County defence in the first half but looked more dangerous after half-time.

SAMMIE SZMODICS 7

Took his early goal extremely well and covered plenty of ground for his side once again.

COURTNEY SENIOR 7

Provided the assist for Szmodics’ goal and earned the penalty that Pell converted on return to the side.

MIKAEL MANDRON 7

U’s man of the match. Scored a fortunate goal but it was suitable reward for his hard-working display.
