LUKE Norris continued his red-hot scoring streak for Colchester United – and then warned rival teams that there are plenty more goals to come.

The 25-year-old bagged a brace in the U’s 3-3 draw at Oldham Athletic to take his personal tally for the season to six in just eight games.

Norris, who is Colchester’s leading scorer, is fifth in the League Two top scorers chart after making an impressive start to life at the club.

He is now targeting more goals for John McGreal’s side, as they push for promotion back to the third tier.

Norris told the Daily Gazette: “That’s six for this year and hopefully there’ll be many more.

“It’s my job to score goals and it’s what I get paid for.

“I came to the club to score goals – if I don’t score goals, I’m not doing my job.

“I’ve got personal targets and I want to score as many goals as possible, like any centre-forward.

“If I can top the scoring charts, it’ll be a great personal target.

“I think this side creates lots of chances and that was a big thing in me coming here.

“I think I had two shots in the whole game and scored two goals.

“They were different goals – the first one was instinctive and the second one was calmness, going through people and putting it in.

“I was happy with that.

“I wanted to get myself back up to match fitness and I’m sort of there now.”

Norris fired Colchester ahead early in the game at Oldham and then hit the net again, midway through the second half.

Harry Pell also scored in the second half at Boundary Park, as the U’s established a 3-1 lead and looked to be heading to a vital victory.

But the home side hit back with two late goals in the space of three minutes to rescue a point and deny Colchester the win.

“I think it’s a massive away point,” added Norris, who joined Colchester from Swindon Town in the summer.

“Looking at the table, it was fourth versus sixth and Oldham are a big team in this league, so if you’re offered a point 90 per cent of us would have taken it.

“We got a point but we could have had more and it was disappointing to see what we could have had.

“We conceded from two set-pieces and we’ve been so good in that area, this season.

“We’ve not conceded many this season so to concede two in the last eight minutes or so is horrible, considering the lead we had.

“We gave it to them, at the end.

“But it’s not really changed much in the table, so if we can back this up with three points at home to Bury this weekend, then it’s a great point.”
