JOHN McGreal believes Colchester United’s away supporters can give them a big boost at Oldham Athletic today.

The U’s are at Boundary Park this afternoon, aiming to maintain their fine away form in League Two.

Colchester are yet to lose in any of their four games on the road in the league and have been backed by their loyal supporters all the way.

And with more U’s fans travelling to watch their side take on the Latics, boss McGreal says the support can make all the difference.

McGreal said: “The away support has been terrific for us this season and I’m sure that will continue again tomorrow.

“Oldham’s a long way to go and they make a big difference for us.”

Just one point separates Colchester and their hosts Oldham in the table, heading into today’s match.

“We know it’s going to be a tough game, given how Oldham have played of late and how we’ve played of late,” added McGreal.

“We’re close to each other in the league but it’s a game we’re really looking forward to and we’ve been performing really well.

“We’ve had a run of Saturday to Saturday games to get that bit of rest and recovery into the boys because they’ve put in a tough six-week shift.

“They’re getting their rest while they can, knowing fully well that we’ve got to be prepped and ready for Oldham because they’ve got them going at the moment.

“I know Frankie (Bunn) from when he was at Huddersfield with the under-23s and I know Rhodsy (Andy Rhodes) who I got to know when he was over at Ipswich as goalkeeper coach.

“They’ve done terrifically well – they’ve turned the club around.

“There’s been a little bit of transition but at the moment, they’re getting good results similar to ourselves, so it should be a good football match.”
