LINDSEY Morgan admits it would be ‘a dream come true’ to lead Billericay Town Ladies to back-to-back promotions.

Captain Morgan played a key role as Billericay bagged a spot in the Women’s National League South East Division One last term.

Having won promotion, Town have made a flying start to the campaign.

Five consecutive league victories - along with a cup win - means Billericay are joint-top of the standings with Crawley Wasps, who have also enjoyed a 100 per cent winning start to the season.

And Morgan has set her sights on clinching promotion once again.

Morgan, 38, said: “Winning back-to-back promotions would be a dream come true.

“We have got off to a dream start and never in a million years would we have thought we would win our first six games of the season.

“We have looked so strong in the games so far and we made a number of signings in the summer.

“Some of the new players came in from divisions above and they have settled straight in.

“The girls have come together as a group and the banter, which you sometimes do not get in women’s football, has been great.”

Luton Town Ladies were Billericay’s latest victims as the high-flyers registered a 2-1 triumph at the AGP Arena.

Lucy Jones and top goalscorer Sam Pittuck were on target as Billericay followed up their midweek 3-1 win at Leyton Orient Women.

However, Luton did cause problems and struck the woodwork on three occasions and Morgan believes playing three games in the space of seven days took its toll on the players.

Morgan added: “We played in midweek and went into the Luton game off the back of two tough matches.

“We were tired towards the end of the game.

“But we managed to get the three points and keep the winning run going, which was the the most important thing.”

Billericay will turn their attentions to the Women’s FA Cup this weekend, with Colney Heath the visitors to the AGP Arena.

And while Morgan is eyeing a second promotion in succession, she believes a cup run is not out of the question for Kim Coster’s side.

Morgan confirmed: “I would love to win promotion but I think we could throw a couple of cups into the mix.

“The Essex County Cup and League Cup could be targets.

“We have 20 or 30 girls who are fighting for a place in the team and it’s the best Billericay side I have ever been involved with.”
