Former Colchester United striker Jamie Cureton is set to take up managerial reins following an upheaval at Bostik League premier division side Bishop's Stortford.

The club announced in a statement this afternoon that Adam Flint had resigned as Stortford's first team manager after a defeat by Kingstonian on Saturday.

Flint, who quit as Witham Town boss to take over at Bishop's Stortford at the end of last season, had been able to lead the team to just one win from their seven Bostik League premier division outings so far and his team had also bowed out of the FA Cup with a 2-1 defeat at St Neots in the first qualifying round.

The club said that Cureton, who scored 31 goals in just over 50 appearances for Colchester United and was a key part of the the side that finished tenth in the Championship in 2006/7, would take over alongside director of football Steve Smith while they looked to appoint a full-time successor to Flint.

The statement said: "The board of directors on behalf of the club wish to place on record their sincere thanks to Adam and his management team for their efforts whilst at the club and wish them all every success in the future.

"Whilst a successor is sought, director of football Steve Smith and senior player Jamie Cureton will take charge of first team matters starting with the League Cup fixture away to Hertford Town on Tuesday evening."
