Colchester United's midfield dynamo Kem Izzet has insisted he has nothing to prove when he faces his former club for the first time tomorrow.
Izzet left Charlton Athletic in 2001, without making a first-team appearance for the south London club.
He spent three years at the Valley as a youngster before moving to the U's, initially on loan and then on a permanent basis.
Since then, Izzet's career has gone from strength to strength at Layer Road, where he has clocked up more than 200 league and cup appearances.
And on the eve of the U's Coca-Cola Championship clash against the Addicks, the Whitechapel-born midfielder is raring to go.
He said: "It's been a long while since I've been back to Charlton and I have nothing to prove to them.
"I just have to concentrate on my own game and hope that we get the result that we want.
"Charlton are a good club and while I was there they were a family-run club, like Colchester.
"But the only memories I have of playing at the Valley are of reserve team games."
