Colchester United midfielder Tom Lapslie is likely to be out until mid-October after undergoing knee surgery.
The 22-year-old missed the U's 3-1 win at Cheltenham Town yesterday and is now facing a spell on the sidelines, following the injury.
Colchester head coach John McGreal said: “Tom has had an operation so we’re going to be missing him for six weeks.
“He’s got something going on with his knee."
Colchester are also monitoring the fitness of winger Brennan Dickenson who missed their game against Cheltenham with a back problem.
"Brennan pulled up in a session on Thursday with a back injury," added McGreal.
“We don’t know how bad that is – we’ve just got to let it settle down.
“We’ve had to adjust things again and at this football club, we do get injuries and get tested.
“But credit to the boys because we’ve adapted the shape from a 4-3-3 to a 3-5-2 and come away with the points."
