Brennan Dickenson insists there is more to come from Colchester United, despite their impressive start to the new League Two season.

Dickenson scored twice as the U’s put Crewe Alexandra to the sword last night, thrashing them 6-0 at the JobServe Community Stadium to move up to third in the table.

John McGreal’s unbeaten side have taken eight points from a possible 12 so far, scoring nine goals and conceding just once.

But despite Colchester’s fine form, winger Dickenson believes they can get even better.

He said: “I definitely think that there's more to come from this team, if we can keep that level of intensity up.

“There are plenty of goals in this team as we showed (against Crewe) and the players we have on the bench are excellent and can come on and score goals like Luke Norris, as he has shown.

“It’s a tough time for the manager to pick a team, which I'm sure is what he wants and it's great for everyone.”

Dickenson struck twice inside the opening 27 minutes against Crewe and also created two further goals, as Colchester ran riot in their biggest home win for 22 years.

“It was probably one of my most enjoyable performances as a Colchester player,” said ex-Gillingham attacker Dickenson.

“To score two goals, get a few assists and win 6-0 - what more could I ask for?

“To get three early goals was great for the team and it was similar to our home performances during my first season here.

“We have to get that home form back to where it was.

“I felt good out there - I've been training well so it was just nice to do it in front of the fans.”
