Colchester United have rubbished reports linking them with Hibernian striker Dean Shiels.
But U's boss Geraint Williams has not ruled out the prospect of adding to his squad before the transfer window closes next week.
The Coca-Cola Championship club have already made nine new signings this summer.
And although he said he has no interest in swooping for Shiels, after the Northern Ireland international was linked with the Layer Road outfit this week, Williams said he was still on the lookout for new players.
He told the Gazette: "I don't know where that story has come from. But we are always monitoring players, whether it will be permanent or loan.
"If someone can add to the squad and they would aid Colchester then we would be interested."
Williams and his Colchester squad have travelled up to Deepdale today, ahead of their Championship clash with Preston North End.
