WIVENHOE B have edged closer to the top of the Stringers World Colchester and District Tennis League Men's Division Two table.

They beat leaders Dedham B 5-4 with the excellence of Jon Penny and Sam Dewey, who were undefeated for Wivenhoe, proving the difference.

Dedham B were successful in two tie breaks to leave the match level after two rounds, before Penny and Dewey's heroics.

In Division Four, David Lloyd A have played five matches and are still yet to drop a set after defeating Lexden Rackets and Fitness Club C, 9-0.

In Division One of the Ladies league, Lexden Hill B inflicted a first defeat on The Essex B who still remain top despite this 5-4 loss.

At the top of Division Four, David Lloyd A were pushed hard by second-placed Spring Lane B.

However, they were still 6-3 winners and are now almost certain of promotion.

David Lloyd B went down 8-1 to West Mersea, in what looks to be a tight battle for promotion from Division Five.

A 9-0 defeat of The Officer's Club A helped The Essex A move to two points behind Mixed Premier Division leaders Frinton A in a title fight that looks like it will go to the wire.
