Colchester Harriers sprinter Charlie Dobson said winning a superb silver at the IAAF World Under-20 Championships tonight was an 'amazing' feeling.
The 18-year-old clocked a time of 20.57 seconds in the men's 200 metres final to finish second for Great Britain, in Finland.
Dobson finished second behind fellow British sprinter Jona Efoloko, who won with a personal best (PB) time of 20.48s.
Dobson said: “It’s amazing.
“Coming from a club level competition two years ago to World Junior silver medallist is an insane jump and I’ve never been happier."
Dobson had also been in fine form yesterday - he was the fastest qualifier in the men's 200m, after clocking a superb time of 20.53 seconds to win his semi-final, in Tampere.
Dobson's time was the fourth all-time fastest in the under-20 men category and helped him claim a new PB.
It beat the PB he had set earlier in the day in winning his 200m heat.
The Colchester Sixth Form College student will also compete in the 4x100m relay final for Great Britain, tomorrow.
Dobson is part of a 40-strong British squad competing at the Championships, in Finland.
