COLCHESTER Harriers' rising sprint star Charlie Dobson has been in electric form for Great Britain today at the IAAF World Under-20 Championships, in Finland.

The 18-year-old was the fastest qualifier in the men's 200 metres, after clocking a superb time of 20.53 seconds to win his semi-final, in Tampere.

Dobson's time was the fourth all-time fastest in the under-20 men category and helped him claim a new personal best (PB).

It beat the PB he had set earlier in the day in winning his 200m heat.

Dobson is now preparing to compete in the 200m final, which takes place at 7.20pm tomorrow night.

The Colchester Sixth Form College student will also compete in the 4x100m relay heats, at 4.30pm tomorrow.

The relay final will take place on Saturday.

Dobson is part of a 40-strong British squad competing at the Championships, in Finland.
