LEXDEN Hill A came agonisingly close to ending Frinton A's unbeaten record in their latest Stringers World Colchester and District Tennis League Ladies Premier Division match.
With the match tied at 4-4 on sets, Frinton recovered a 7-5 deficit to win the tie-break and claim a 5-4 victory.
However, Lexden Hill A were later 6-3 winners over Lexden Rackets and Fitness Club A.
They also beat Lexden Hill B, 9-0.
Dedham A were involved in a tight encounter with the Officer's Club A.
However, they won two tie-break sets to turn the division one match in their favour and win 5-4.
With Wivenhoe A dominant in Men's Division One after defeating the Officer's Club B 8-1, Kirby A moved into second spot with a 6-3 victory over Lexden Hill A.
Wivenhoe B beat the Officer's Club C 5-4 in division two, in a match where six of the nine sets finished with a 8-6 scoreline.
Jon Penny and Sam Dewey won all their three sets for Wivenhoe.
In Division Three, Little Clacton enjoyed their first victory of the season.
They won an extremely tight match against West Mersea, for whom victory would have meant topping the table.
The sides were level at 4-4 and both teams' third pairs played each other.
Little Clacton's Barry Partridge and Richard Cross edged a 7-5 tie-break win.
In the same division, where all teams are very closely matched, Kirby B defeated Lexden Hill B 5-4.
Judith Wickenden and Adrian Mann won three sets in Colchester Officer's Club B's 5-4 defeat of the previously unbeaten Wivenhoe A, in Mixed Division Two.
Kirby B beat Lexden Hill B 6-3 in Division Three which appears to be heading for a close finish.
In Division Five, Frinton C went top following a 9-0 victory over Kirby C.
