COLCHESTER Harriers' Sarah Stradling strode to victory in the Round Mersea Island race, in very warm conditions.

Stradling was victorious in the tough 13-mile event, which includes beach and trail running.

She keeps running consistently well, as she has done for many years for the Green Vests.

Angus Holford was runner-up for the men, while Harriers swept to the team prize thanks to Paul Rodgers (seventh), Keith Marley (ninth) and Richard Flutter (tenth).

Good runs came from Craig Mitchell, David Hilson, Lee Holihan, Malcolm Statham, Arthur Whiston, Jenny Richardson and Fay Smalls.

The Mersea Half iron man event was hot and tough but Becky Cooke did exceptionally well to finish as fourth lady.

The event consisted of a 1.1-mile sea swim, 60 miles on the bike and the round Mersea Half marathon to finish.

The North downs 30km race saw fine runs from Anita Mussett and Lucy Bannantyne.

The latest summer evening 5km races saw some fine results from Harriers.

Danny Millward was fastest runner on the night at Harwich, clocking a comfortable 17 minutes 00 seconds.

Tom Cresswell was third fastest in 17m 49s, while Aiko Hennington was fastest lady in 18m 22s.

The Maldon evening promenade 5km saw Aiko Hennington finish as runner-up in 18m 25s.

Danny Millward had another victory for the men in 16m 44s, Max Caulfield was third (17m 20s) and Dominic Niciejewski ran a personal best (PB) of 18m 37s.

The park runs saw Gavin Scanlon finish third at Colchester Castle in a PB of 18m 15s.

Jon Nears was fifth and Dominic Niciejewski was 12th.

Mersea Cudmore Grove saw a double victory for Harriers thanks to Richard Heath and Cheryl Appleby, while David Wright was sixth setting a new over-60 record for the race.

At the Harwich seafront event, Wayne Cook was runner-up in 18m 19s, with Simon Wilson fifth in 19m 25s.

Richard Flutter was runner-up at the Clare Country park event in 19m 04s, while Debbie Cattermole was second lady in 21m 52s.
