BRIGHTLINGSEA Regent have beefed up their squad with another new signing after bringing Harry Morgan to the Taydal Stadium.

The former Heybridge Swifts midfielder, who has agreed a one-year deal, has previously had loan spells with Maldon and Tiptree and Waltham Forest.

Before Heybridge, Morgan began his senior career with Chelmsford City in National League South and came through the Clarets' academy like former Regent duo Amir Berkane and Jake Gordon.

R's manager Tom Rothery was pleased to make his second signing in as many days, having announced the arrival of Harvey Hodd on Thursday.

“Harry's a ball-playing central midfielder and will fit nicely into our ethos at the club," he said.

"He’s a very humble, grounded lad and, at 21, fits the type of player - again like Harvey Hodd - that I believe (assistant boss) Pip (Boyland) and I can develop and really bring the best out of at Brightlingsea.

"Harry has good experience from playing 70 games at Chelmsford in the league above and I think he wants to settle at a club now.

"I feel it's important for his development that he really beds in at Regent and I believe that will enable us to get the best out of him.

"One of the main areas of improvement for us as a team is to retain the ball better.

"I felt we did that as the season progressed but Harry is another important signing in helping us do that even better.

"He’s another technically gifted player who will certainly help us move the ball through the thirds and play the brand of football we're looking to play."
