GREYHOUND trainer Dave Smith knows that David occasionally topples Goliath in sport.

And he is keeping his fingers crossed that there will be another bit of giant-killing tonight at the William Hill TV Trophy - one of the biggest annual events in greyhound racing.

Smith, who is from Speedwell Road in Old Heath, admits he isn't one of the big boys in the world of greyhound training, but his dog Wise Susie has a chance to cause a major upset in the final of the prestigious race tonight.

"For a small trainer to make it to the major final is like Colchester United getting to the FA Cup final," he said.

Smith was approached to train the three-year-old bitch by her Irish owner, 73-year-old Mike Hogan, in preparation for the TV Trophy and she won her place in the last six of the race, which is being screened live on Sky Sports at 9.45pm tonight, by coming second in her heat at Great Yarmouth last week.
