COLCHESTER made it three wins out of three in January with a great win against Wimbledon.

The Blacks are on course to complete their #JustWinJan campaign after recording a 48-34 National League division three London and South East win at Mill Road.

Colchester took an early lead when Owen Herbert went over for an unconverted try.

The home side increased their lead to 8-0 when number ten David Higgins slotted a penalty.

Wimbled reduced the deficit with a converted try to make it 8-7.

Colchester went further in front, after a big scrum skipper Ollie Pickett went over for an unconverted try.

But Wimbledon kept in touch with a penalty to make the score 13-10.

And the visitors then went in front for the first time in the game with an unconverted try.

But excellent work from the home forwards saw the ball moved to James Crozier who went over for a try and an 18-15 lead.

Ben Murphy put Colchester further in front with a try under the posts and the conversion brought the half to an end and saw the home side 25-15 in front.

After the break, Crozier nudged Colchester further ahead with a well-taken penalty.

But Wimbledon came back with another converted try to make it 28-22.

However, Colchester hit back when Matt Smith charged down a kick and crossed for a try.

Damien Brambley increased the lead to 38-22 with another try.

And the scores kept coming when Crozier chipped ahead and Murphy had the pace to get over the line to go ahead 43-22.

Wimbledon then came back to score two tries and a conversion to reduce the lead to 43-34.

However, a late try for Brambley sealed the win at 48-34.
