WIVENHOE TOWN eased into the next round of the League Challenge Cup after an emphatic victory against Woodbridge.
The sides met in a rearranged tie on Wednesday night and it was the Dragons who prevailed 5-1.
Player-assistant manager Ray Turner netted twice and he was joined on the scoresheet by Hasan Ayten, Markel Greenidge and Owen Bryan.
Ayten broke the deadlock with a header from Jake Plane’s cross.
Woodbridge levelled from long range before Greenidge pounced on a defensive mistake, rounded the keeper and slotted home for his first goal of the season to make it 2-1.
Turner tapped in Plane’s low cross and Bryan netted with a low shot on the turn, after a pass from Turner.
Turner then put the cherry on the cake, heading in from a Plane corner.
The tie had originally been played last year, with Wivenhoe winning 2-1.
However, the league ordered it to be replayed as the officials accidentally played extra-time - something that was against the competition rules.
Wivenhoe will now host Brantham Athletic in the next round, in a tie to be played at the Maple Tree Cars Stadium next Wednesday.
Before that, the Dragons switch their attention to another cup competition - the First Division Knockout Cup.
They have a home tie with March Town United on Saturday afternoon (kick-off 3pm).
