BRIGHTLINGSEA Regent have been dealt a blow after loanee goalkeeper Ollie Bowles was recalled by Concord Rangers.

The shot-stopper has been a huge success since joining the R’s and only suffered one defeat – the 4-1 loss at home to Tilbury.

However, Concord have now recalled him and sent him out on loan to Ryman League premier division side Brentwood Town.

Former Maldon & Tiptree boss Mike Flanagan was recently appointed manager at the latter, while his son, Adam, is in charge at Concord.

“I’m disappointed but that’s football,” said boss James Webster.

“To be honest, we had an inkling it was going to happen.

“Brentwood need a keeper and obviously there’s the connection between them and Concord.

“I think he’s enjoyed it here but I know he wants to play in the Conference South (with Concord).

“To be fair, Brentwood play a level higher than us so it’s another step closer to where he wants to get.

“I’ve got no qualms with him or Concord.

“Everything has been done the right way and it’s just about trying to get a replacement now.”

Bowles is allowed to play in one more Brightlingsea match – Saturdays home clash with Romford.
