Tenacious Colchester United midfielder Kem Izzet has vowed to retain his combative style, despite being hit by a one-match ban.

Izzet was cautioned for a foul on Darren Carter late in the first half of Colchester's 2-1 defeat against West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday night.

It was his fifth booking of the season, meaning the 26 year-old former Charlton Athletic trainee will now miss the U's Coca-Cola Championship clash at Plymouth Argyle on Tuesday night.

It will also bring to a halt Izzet's impressive run of 34 consecutive league and cup games for the U's this season.

But despite having to sit out a game against the Pilgrims, Izzet insists he will not alter his game.

He said: "I came in at half-time very disappointed on Tuesday but sometimes that happens in football. That's the kind of player I am and I won't change my game."
