Elliott Hewitt has extended his loan spell for a further month from Championship side Ipswich Town.
Hewitt, 20, will remain with the U's for a further four weeks, after the two clubs agreed for him to remain at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.
Hewitt, who initially joined the U's on loan from Town last October, has so far made 16 league and cup appearances for Colchester.
The former Macclesfield Town wide-man scored his first-ever Football League goal earlier this month in the U's 2-0 win at Peterborough United.
Ipswich have requested a 24-hour recall clause for the player, as part of the loan extension.
