Colchester United's under-21s fell to a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Ipswich Town, in their latest Professional Development League Two clash.
Goals from Sammie Szmodics and Cole Kpekawa gave the U's hope of securing a draw against their East Anglian rivals, at the Weston Homes Community Stadium, after Town had raced into a 3-0 lead inside an hour.
Goals from Cameron Stewart, Connor Salmon and Alex Henshall put Ipswich in command, before Colchester staged a late fightback.
The likes of Macauley Bonne, Rhys Healey and Byron Lawrence all featured for the U's, along with trialist Anthony Jeffrey.
