Essex CCC coach Paul Grayson hailed all-rounder Greg Smith after he signed a new two-year contract with the club.
The 30-year-old, who joined from Derbyshire two years ago, overcame a hip injury to become an integral part of the Essex batting line up with 555 runs and 17 wickets in 11 games this year.
Grayson said: βI am absolutely delighted he has committed to the club for the next two years.
βHe has been the most consistent performer in all competitions since the start of the Twenty20 and has made match winning contributions for the team. He will take the confidence in his game from this year into next year.β
