AFTER another weekend of high tides saw more drivers get stuck while trying to pass The Strood between Colchester and Mersea, the idea of building a bridge between the two has been mooted again.
Councillor John Jowers said a previous plan to raise The Strood just a few inches "went down like a lead balloon" last time it was brought up, as Mersea residents love the idea they are still an island.

But raising the road by just a foot would stop all but the highest of tides getting onto the roadway.
