AN award-winning pizza chain has been given the green light to open up a delivery service from an industrial unit in Colchester.
The Fat Pizza submitted plans to change the use of the unit in Challenge Way, off Barrack Street.
The unit will be used for food preparation and delivery. Customers will not be able to collect their delivery.
The brand says it has a focus on carbon free dining and reducing the use of plastic.
Once open the unit will operate between noon and 11pm with five to eight members of staff.
There will be apprenticeship schemes and staff will be asked to use sustainable transport to get to work.
The application said: “We currently have branches in Southend, Basildon, Romford, Rayleigh, Croydon and Walthamstow.
“Some of the sites have a similar set up in terms of industrial unit location to Challenge Way, so we have a good understanding and respect of the conditions and regulations we need to comply by and have great relationships with local authorities.
“This business is strictly delivery only. Sales do not take place at the premises and there is no ability for customers to collect an order at the site themselves.
“The ordering is done via online, an app or the phone."
