Probe into boozing Paras
AN investigation has been launched after a top paratrooper allegedly flouted social distancing rules with a drinking session.
Col Andrew Jackson, deputy commander of 16 Air Assault Brigade, is
accused of hosting a party for up to 15 officers at Colchester Garrison.
According to The Sun, a bar in the officers' mess was opened.
All such facilities have been closed since lockdown restrictions started in March.
An Army spokesman said they were looking into what went on.
“This was a serious breach of the guidance on social distancing and shouldn’t have happened," he said.
"It went against the principles of discipline and selfless commitment that have underpinned the Army’s response to Covid-19. A full investigation is taking place.
"Action will be taken against anyone found to have ignored the social distancing guidance or contravened military law.”
