A ROAD will be closed for two weeks due to a collapsed sewer.
Part of Layer Road in Colchester, from The Cannons and Gladwin Road, was closed on Monday and will remain closed until the end of the month.
Drivers have called it an “absolute nightmare” during school runs.
An Anglian Water spokesman said: “Our teams are working to repair a damaged sewer pipe in Layer Road in Colchester, which has also caused some subsidence to the road surface.
“A small road closure is in place to allow our teams to complete these repairs safely on what is a busy road in the area.
“A diversion route will be in place to ensure bus routes can continue.
“Once the hole has been excavated our teams can properly assess the damage we’ll be able to give a better estimate of how long the repair will take.
“We are sorry for any disruption this might cause, and we’d like to thank residents for their patience.”
