A HEADTEACHER is “delighted” after his primary school received a “good” rating from Ofsted.
When it was inspected in 2017, Brinkley Grove Primary School in Rawlings Crescent, Colchester, “require improvement”.
The 402-pupil school has now been rated “good” in all areas following a two-day inspection.
Headteacher Darren Smith said: “We are delighted the hard work of all the staff to ensure the best for our children has been recognised.
“The children here deserve the best and it is important for the whole community to be served by a good school.”
Inspectors found children’s progress was now strong due to “the determined leadership of senior and subject leaders which ensures the school is continuing to improve rapidly”.
School improvements included the teaching of reading, writing and maths which inspectors recognised had “substantially improved following the introduction of effective new strategies”.
In the reception classes children were said to get off to a good start and make strong progress.
The lead inspector praised the school’s wider curriculum which included performing with a professional opera company to parents.
Pupils’ behaviour and conduct was also judged to be good.
