Cruel crooks stole a life-size figure of a First World War soldier which had been installed as a tribute to the fallen.
The Tommy figurine was installed in Fingringhoe in early November to help mark the centenary of the end of the bloody conflict.
Positioned in Pigsfoot Green, the figurine was set to be in situ for around a year, however on Friday evening it is believed someone stole the figure.
Resident Lyn Wishart said: "A lot of the villagers loved to see him there guarding the village, and to some, providing comfort and remembrance to what our young men went through in the First World War.
"The village is very upset and disgusted that someone could steal something that had such a significant and poignant representation and we want him back."
The figure was last seen at 9.40pm on Friday.
