MPs have killed off an attempt to make Britain offer sanctuary to 3,000 unaccompanied child refugees from Europe.
MPs voted 294 to 276 to reject Lord Dubs' amendment to the Immigration Bill, which would have seen the unaccompanied Syrian refugee children accepted into the UK.
The children would already have made the trip to Europe, rather than being taken from refugee camps near Syria.
MP for Colchester, Will Quince, was the only Essex MP to vote to take in the 3,000 children.
