BARGAIN hunters queued outside supermarkets and shops this morning to get their hands on Black Friday deals.
The American sale event, which falls the day after Thanksgiving, sees businesses slash their prices.
Highwoods Tesco closed at midnight yesterday to prepare for the event, opening at 5am for Black Friday customers.
Customers started arriving at 2.30am, with about 80 customers queuing as the store opened.
Shoppers were also queuing outside Sainsbury’s in Stanway, which opened at 6am.
Williams and Griffin will also take part in the sale when the store opens at 9am.
