PLANS have been submitted to build offices in a council car park and should be decided by November.
Colchester Council has applied, to itself, to develop the southern part of the Sheepen Road car park into a two three-storey office blocks.
Part of the space will be used by legal and financial advisers Birkett Long.
The plan was suggested because the car park is expected to be surplus to requirements because of Colchester’s new park and ride.
The application said: “The proposal is to provide Colchester with high-quality purpose-designed office accommodation in a suitable and sustainable location, a new landmark development befitting a prominent site. The buildings have been proportioned to sit comfortably in context, with detailing designed to be sizable and rugged enough to inhabit a roadside location.
“However care has been taken to prevent the designs becoming overbearingly large.”
