THE maths skills of a group of pupils were put to the test in a competition hosted by Colchester Academy.
More than 60 Year 7 pupils from 12 schools in the Colchester area battled it out to answer a series of maths challenges during the Olympiad.
At the end of a tightlyfought contest, it was youngsters from the Philip Morant School who came out on top.
James Bacon, head of maths at Colchester Academy, said: “There was a great atmosphere in the hall.
“They enjoyed it incredibly.”
