AN online archive of Wivenhoe's history has been launched.
The website has been founded by volunteers from the Wivenhoe History group.
Eventually, the website will contain hundreds of pages about Wivenhoe’s past including its people, buildings and events.
As well as text, there will be photographs and even recordings of some of the people who have contributed to the community.
The launch was held at the latest Wivenhoe Memories Exhibition, which had especially created displays about the First World War.
Behind the event is John Stewart, who has amassed a 600-strong collection of photographs from the Wivenhoe area since the 1970s.
Around 200 of those pictures, which are of everything from the cricket club, to local events and streetscapes, have been uploaded to the website with more to follow.
