McDonald’s has axed its long-running Monopoly game promotion in the UK after 20 years.

First launched in 2006, the game gave customers the chance to win prizes by collecting game pieces from menu items (fries, wraps, drinks, McFlurry, and more).

The promotion last ran in the UK from September 10 to October 21, 2025.

Prizes available during last year's promotion included:

  • £100,000 cash
  • £2,000 Jet2 holiday
  • LG OLED TV
  • Merlin Annual Pass for four

Customers could also win free McDonald’s products, including Big Macs, Quarter Pounders, McFlurries, Apple Pies and milkshakes.

McDonald's axes Monopoly game promotion in the UK

McDonald's has now confirmed the Monopoly Game promotion has been axed after 20 years.

A McDonald’s spokesperson said: "We know how much our customers love our promotions, from the brand-new launch of CARDS in March, to our first-ever XBOX partnership as part of the Side Missions launch.

"We're always looking for new ways to surprise and delight our customers, and while Monopoly won't feature in 2026, we'll continue listening closely to what they enjoy most as we shape future promotions."

McDonald's customers say there is "no reason at all to go now"

Customers have said the axing of the Monopoly promotion at McDonald's means there is "no reason at all to go now".

One person, posting on Reddit group r/UKfood said: "Between this, the 'food for thought' voucher no longer giving a £3 meal, and the "product" incident, I now officially have no reason to ever go to McDonald's anymore."

Another added: "I don't eat at maccies much tbh but I do tend to pop in more often when the monopoly thing is on, that's a shame."

A third customer commented: "I think McDonald’s is going to notice a drop in sales this year - there’s no reason at all to go now."

This person posted: "Somehow despite everyone raving how easy it was to get free stuff on this, I literally never won anything on it ever.

"Not even, like, a free burger or drink or something lol."

"Good riddance."
