A UK travel company has suspended all services and is taking steps to appoint an administrator.

Wayfairer Travel Limited, founded in 2012, specialises in tailor-made holiday packages to destinations worldwide, including the Maldives, Japan, Peru, and Egypt.

Now, after more than 14 years in business, the travel company has been forced to suspend all services "until further notice".

A spokesperson for Wayfairer Travel said: "We are truly sorry for the concern and uncertainty caused by the current situation.

"Wayfairer Travel has currently suspended all services until further notice.

"At this stage, we are unable to provide further information until we have received the appropriate accounting and legal advice.

"These discussions are currently under way, and we expect to provide a formal update during the week commencing 31 August.

"We appreciate your patience and sincerely apologise that we cannot provide greater clarity at this time."

Brits with Wayfairer holiday packages told "do not travel"

Association of Bonded Travel Organisers Trust (ABTOT) said it has been notified that Wayfairer is "unable to continue trading and is taking steps to appoint an administrator".

ABTOT continued: "Because Wayfairer cannot currently provide certainty that affected packages will be delivered, ABTOT is putting arrangements in place to assist eligible UK customers."

The financial protection body has said "do not travel" if you have booked a holiday with Wayfairer Travel on or before September 30, 2026.

It added: "If your departure is after 30 September 2026, await further information unless you are contacted directly with different instructions."

Who is eligible for a refund?

Refund procedures may vary depending on how the holiday package was booked with Wayfairer Travel.

You have an ATOL Certificate

Those with an ATOL Certificate should contact ABTOT directly on 020 7065 5311 or claims@abtot.com.

Bookings without an ATOL Certificate (UK residents)

UK residents without an ATOL Certificate should first approach their debit or credit card issuer for a refund.

If the claim is declined, customers should obtain a written final decision before contacting ABTOT via Gallagher Bassett through the claims portal.

Bookings by non-UK residents

ABTOT protection arranged for customers affected by the current Wayfairer Travel situation does not cover bookings made by non-UK residents.

They should contact their card issuer, travel insurer, or agent instead.

Other UK travel companies that have closed in 2026

Meanwhile, four UK airlines have fallen into administration or liquidation:
