Netflix hack that saves £84 a year on ad-free subscription

The hack allows members to access the streaming platform for just £5.99 a month, compared to the standard £12.99 for a full subscription.

It uses Netflix’s official “extra member” feature, which gives users their own account and password, rather than sharing someone else’s login details.

Jordon Cox, a money-saving expert known as Coupon Kid UK, shared the trick online.

How to save £84 a year on ad-free Netflix subscription

To use the feature, a customer needs to know someone with an eligible Netflix subscription who is willing to add them as an extra member through their account settings.

That person can then pay £5.99 a month to add an extra ad-free member and send an invitation by email.

Once accepted, the new member can set up their own Netflix account with separate login details.

The extra member does not have to live in the same household as the main account holder, but both must be in the same country.

Since Netflix bills the main subscriber, the extra member can simply reimburse them each month.

A standard ad-free plan costs £12.99 per month, while the extra member option is just £5.99, saving £7 a month or £84 a year.

While Netflix does offer a standalone £5.99 plan, it includes adverts.

Mr Cox said the extra-member feature allows ad-free viewing, making it a better option for those who want uninterrupted streaming at a lower cost.

The tip has been well received online, with one social media user saying: "I will be doing this immediately."

Another commented: "Omg yes."
