More than 65 per cent of Maldon residents have received their first Covid Jab, according to the latest figures.

NHS data shows 36,981 people had received a vaccine jab by April 4.

According to the latest population estimates from the Office for National Statistics, this equates to 68 per cent of those aged 16 and over.

Of those vaccinated, 30,560, or 97 per cent, were aged 50 or over while 6,421 people aged between 16 and 49 received their first dose.

The data also reveals variation in coverage between different areas across Maldon for those aged 16 and over.

Areas with the highest coverage:

• Great Totham, Wickham Bishops & Woodham, 74 per cent

• Burnham-on-Crouch, 71.1 per cent

• Maldon South, 69.4 per cent

Areas with the lowest coverage:

• Heybridge, 64.4 per cent

• Maldon North, 64.7 per cent

• Southminster, Bradwell & Dengie Peninsula, 65.7 per cent
