LETTER: Seeking stories of town embroiderers
Were you one of the 86 Maldon Embroiderers?
In order to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the completion and first display of the embroidery, we at the Maeldune Heritage Centre are keen to create an archive of memories from those who were involved in the making of it.
There are several interviews with embroiderers on the Maldon Society oral listening post, but we are trying to find out who embroidered which motif. It is fascinating to find out why each person chose the pieces they stitched and how it fitted into their lives at the time.
These memories shouldn’t be lost as they add to the full story of the embroidery. So, if you or someone you know was involved please get in contact with us.
We’d love to hear your story.
