The latest figures show the infection rate across the Maldon District has reached over 900, the day the country enters a new national lockdown.
Last night (January 4) Prime Minister Boris Johnson set out further measures to tackle the coronavirus pandemic.
From today people will only be allowed to leave their homes for limited reasons and schools and non essential shops must close.
Lockdown is expected to stay in place until the middle of February.
The news comes as the Maldon District's infection rate reaches over 900.
Data from Public Health England shows that the infection rate across the district stands at 907.2 per 100,000 people.
It also shows that 589 cases have been recorded in the seven days leading up to December 30.
