POLICE are investigating following the theft of a mobility scooter.

Essex Police say the scooter was taken from the boot of a car which was parked on the driveway of a house in Mundon Road, Maldon.

Reports say iy happened between 6pm on November 20 and 3pm on November 22.

The mobility scooter, a purple-coloured Illusion, was broken down into four parts to fit into the boot; those responsible left only the basket behind.

The owner, a woman in her 70s said: “The scooter is only a year old but helped me to get out and about and keep my independence.

"My daily routine has been affected and to replace it will cost a lot of money.”

Police are asking anyone who was in the area at the time and saw the theft or have information that may help them find the scooter to come forward.
