A coffee morning has been launched to give people the opportunity to meet others after lockdown.

Maldon and District CVS launched the Safe Space coffee morning at Maldon town hall on to create a safe environment for people who have been on their own during the coronavirus pandemic.

The first session was held the morning after the government announced the 'rule of six' which means only six people can meet in any setting.

However the exemption for charitable activities means the coffee mornings can still go ahead.

Sarah Troop, director at Maldon and District CVS said"The first session went really well, the measures put in place to maintain distancing and control virus transmission worked really well, people were pleased to be able to chat face to face and catch up with friends, for some it had been a long time since they had that contact and so it really meant something.

"We have been watching the Government announcements with interest to ensure we can continue to offer this opportunity to the community and are pleased to say we can continue to take bookings for the coming weeks."

The coffee mornings are held on Wednesday mornings at Maldon town hall.
