A DETOUR in the Dengie is set to be in place for several weeks.
Steeple Road in Southminster has been closed today (January 20) from its junction with Steeple Meadows for a distance of 300 meters north.
While realignment works are undertaken by Essex County Council, drivers are urged to seek alternative routes in Steeple Road, Foxhall Road, Green Lane, Southminster Road, Tillingham Road, Cripplegate, North End, Queenborough Road, High Street, Pantile Hill and Queen Street.
Access for emergency vehicles and pedestrians will be maintained during the closure.
The section of road is expected to open by the end of February.
