MUSICIANS from across the county can learn about the world of jazz music this month.

Maldon Jazz Workshops brings the fun and flavour of the music genre to the Swan, in Maldon High Street, on Sunday, November 24.

The event will be led by musicians Tina May and John Seeley.

The morning singing session is being led by international jazz artist Tina.

She is also a voice coach who specialises in helping people to develop their voices in a fun environment.

The music is jazz, gospel and swing and Tina is accompanied on the keyboards by Dave Brooker from band Kind of Blue.

In the afternoon, band leader and teacher John Seeley (pictured) will lead an all-instrument session which last year attracted eight different instruments from saxophones to ukuleles.

John will be deconstructing jazz pieces and explaining how to improvise on and perform them.

John will bring along his rhythm section and there will be plenty of opportunity to play along.

Organiser Terry Coiley said: “The day is an opportunity in Maldon to play, sing and learn something about jazz and to meet other musicians.

“Even if it is not your scene, jazz opens another door into music”.

The day runs from 10.30am to 5pm.

All levels are welcome to both sessions and the cost is £12 per session per person.

Spaces must be reserved.
